6. DJ & Sound Services

Kenya Community Victoria (KCV) invites expressions of interest from experienced DJs and professional sound service providers to manage and execute high-quality sound for the 3rd Annual Tamaduni Festival 2025. The DJ & Sound team will be critical in creating an energetic, seamless, and immersive audio experience that supports live performances, MC hosting, cultural showcases, and general entertainment.


Scope of Work:

  • DJ Services:
    Provide a professional DJ with prior experience at large-scale multicultural or community events.
    Curate and play culturally relevant, family-friendly music throughout the day and into the evening.
    Include a mix of:
    Kenyan hits (Gengetone, Benga, Kapuka, Ohangla, Gospel, etc.)
    Afrobeat, Reggae, Rhumba, and popular global hits
    Instrumentals and background music to support live announcements or casual ambiance
    Adjust tempo and music selection according to crowd mood, program flow, and transitions.

  • Sound Equipment Setup:
    Provide and install a complete sound system suitable for an outdoor event with 400–600 attendees, including:
    PA system (speakers, amplifiers, subwoofers)
    DJ controller/mixer and turntables or decks
    Monitors for performers and MCs
    Microphones: at least 2 cordless handhelds and 2 lapel mics
    Audio input/output ports for potential live acts or presentations
    Ensure full coverage of the main stage, performance area, and general field (if applicable).

  • Sound Management Responsibilities:
    Coordinate with MCs and performers to manage music cues, volume levels, and mic transitions.
    Ensure smooth transitions between performances and segments (e.g., performance to award ceremony).
    Maintain clear audio quality with minimal feedback or interruptions throughout the event.
    Provide technical support on-site in case of audio malfunctions or adjustments.

Technical Compliance & Safety:

  • All equipment must be tagged and tested in accordance with Australian electrical safety standards.

  • DJ and sound operators must be trained and experienced in professional event setups.

  • Provide backup systems or contingency plans in case of technical failure (extra speakers, mics, extension cables, etc.)

Additional Expectations:

  • Be available for full event coverage: 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM, including early setup and soundcheck.

  • Be present for a pre-event briefing and soundcheck rehearsal, especially for live acts and stage performances.

  • Dress appropriately for a cultural community event and maintain a professional demeanor.

  • Be able to adapt music style for family-friendly programming (no explicit content).

  • Ability to integrate sponsor or KCV shout-outs and branded jingles is a plus.

Preferred Add-Ons (Optional but Encouraged):

  • Lighting rigs to complement stage or DJ area (tagged and tested).

  • Live sound engineer to manage mixing for performers or special segments.

  • Basic emcee/hype support if DJ doubles up as a crowd engager.
