3. MC Services (Masters of Ceremony)

Kenya Community Victoria (KCV) is seeking dynamic, culturally aware, and charismatic MCs to host and coordinate stage programming for Tamaduni Festival 2025. The MCs will be the voice of the event—energizing the crowd, managing time, engaging with performers and attendees, and ensuring the festival maintains its flow, excitement, and cultural authenticity.

Scope of Work:

  • Event Program Execution
Study the event run sheet in advance and be well-versed in the schedule, transitions, and timing of each segment.
Work closely with the stage manager, DJ, performers, and event coordinators to ensure smooth transitions between performances, presentations, and activities.
Maintain a sense of energy, punctuality, and control over stage time to prevent overruns.

  • Audience Engagement
Warm up the audience and keep them energized throughout the event using humor, storytelling, Kenyan proverbs, and community lingo.
Encourage audience participation in games, challenges, and cultural contests.
Recognize and acknowledge community leaders, special guests, sponsors, and performers appropriately.
Moderate Q&A sessions (if any), raffles, giveaways, and any on-the-spot community moments.

  • Multilingual Hosting (Optional but Preferred)
Ability to switch between English, Swahili, and a few Kenyan vernacular phrases to connect with a diverse Kenyan-Australian audience.
Be respectful and sensitive when using cultural references and jokes.

  • Performance Support
Introduce performers and groups with enthusiasm and correct information.
Handle performance delays or technical issues with professionalism and keep the audience engaged during pauses.

  • Brand & Theme Awareness
Align all messaging and tone with the theme of the Tamaduni Festival: cultural pride, diversity, family, and community.
Promote sponsors, vendors, and activities as per the communication brief.

  • Coordination and Professionalism
Attend at least one pre-event briefing and site walk-through with the KCV Events Team.
Be available for soundcheck and stage rehearsal on the event day.
Dress appropriately for the occasion, ideally in themed or culturally inspired attire (to be agreed upon).

Additional Expectations:

  • Be adaptable and ready to improvise based on real-time event flow.

  • Bring your own hype and personality while remaining aligned with KCV’s family-friendly and inclusive tone.

  • Submit a short video reel or references of past MC work as part of your EOI submission (preferred).

  • Be punctual and committed to the full event duration: 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
